Oakland University’s 22nd annual Diverse Voices Conference will take place virtually via Zoom at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 8. The goal of the forum is to provide a supportive forum for Oakland University students, faculty, staff, and community members to learn about and speak out in support of valuing all aspects of human diversity, and voice support regarding the need for a socially just society.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Propelling Multi-Social Identity Initiatives Forward in Challenging Times.”
“For those of us involved in and supporting DEI, antiracism and social justice work, we must remain hopeful in this time of uncertainty and continue to move this critical work forward in the ways that we can,” said Dr. Chaunda L. Scott, founder/president of the Diverse Voices Conference and professor of Human Resource Development (HRD) in the School of Education and Human Services (SEHS).
The keynote speaker for this year’s conference will be Dr. Jeremy W. Bohonos, assistant professor of adult professional and continuing education at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

• Dr. Greg Bartley, assistant professor, Department of Teaching and Learning, School of Education and Human Services (SEHS)
• Dr. Robert Martin, special instructor, Department of Organizational Leadership, SEHS
• Robin White, DEI council member, Office of the Registrar
• Dionne Shell, doctoral candidate, Human Movement Science Program, School of Health Sciences (SHS)
• Victoria Spain, master’s student, Master of Organizational Leadership Program, SEHS
• Simon Diratzouyan, undergraduate student, Human Resource Development Program, SEHS
Entertainment will be provided by the Stone Sound Collective, led by Mark Stone.
There is no charge to attend this year’s Diverse Voices Conference and the event is open to the Oakland University community.
This year’s conference is being sponsored by the Oakland University Office of the Provost, the Division of Student Affairs and Diversity, the Black Faculty Association, the SEHS Initiative for Eradicating Racism, and the SEHS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
